looks cumbersome...did they forget their SMART tome?

Inspired by "Sound Officer's Call! Steve", I am also going to post on what I accomplished in the medieval realm in 2018, and what is coming in 2019.

2018: Battles, Basing, Playtesting = "progress"
10 Posts, with a 4-month hiatus from March to June, inclusive.
- Battle of Crug Mawr. planning, playtesting, the battle at a local club and took up late winter. I didn't get around to posting the AAR until July, however...
- More Crug Mawr. Obtained copy of Leonard James' book, and re-fought it with his spin on the nature of the battle; 2 more posts out of it at the end of the year.
- Game Design: Trick Units. 2 posts on elephants and war wagons...makes me want to try out the War Wagons, as I like the concepts!
- Lord of the Rings. Did some posts - time to do something with them.
- Re-Basing Project. This most arduous part - removing off the old bases, re-mounting on the new bases - was completed for most of the Units in my collection. Flocking however...
- Playtesting. This continued with one playtest with an expert, and a following playtest with "the guys" at his house, a Christmas game I hosted for two, and at least one cold playtester who found my by recognizing me or my army from my convention days!

2019 Goals = "More Progress"
1-2 Posts a month - no huge gaps in posting periods.!
- Battles of Wales. Game out one every couple of months referencing Paul Remfry's books. As these would make for a good first campaign supplement...document to that end. This started as a Welsh Campaign post in 2017, but wasn't satisfied by the rules, so was shelved, but now I've plenty of books and the rules are virtually done.
- Battles of the Ring. I trimmed down but still have a bunch of lovely LoTR figs. Make a few Units to complement my Dark Ages armies and battle for the Ring!
- Written Draft. Write out the rules, examples, mechanics, pics, etc. Include sample opposed lists for Briton, perhaps a mini-campaign? Sample Personalities needed.
- Playtesting. Continue this.
- AMW Rules. These do have some personality and a larger "feel" than OHW rules. They'll make a nice change of pace for "big battles" once in a while. Bit more work to play and post upon, but there is drama in the dice rolling.
- Figures. Need to do that last little bit of work to finish large Saxon army, and a bunch more Welsh. They are almost done being painted. This will allow larger games.
     * Personalities. Finish some more and base them, also.
     * Plastics. Must make a box of them to see how I like them!
- Continue re-basing. This means aUnit can be used on the table at least, even if not flocked. With much of the feudal stuff done, I need to work on the LoTR figures, including some Vendel and plastics.
- Flock two complete armies, with options, to use as demo armies.
- Warhammer Fantasy. These have been sitting largely idle since the Kings of War group fell apart a few years ago. Time to sell some of it off?

Overall, i did a lot more last year than I thought. The 4-month break just made it seem less productive than it was. I was a bit hesitant to get the two Remfry volumes which cost almost $100 altogether, but they are great and will be easy to use as reference tools.

a return to this 2017 project is in the works!

Check in periodically, or better yet become a follower and then my blog will tell you when something new is up! It can be hard to decide how much to post, but I think 1-2 a month is a good number.

Happy New Year!
